Early in 2010, after four and a half years and over sixty five tours, Jim Rush of Galesburg, the man with the biggest indie beard in Wellington was in need of a change. Having parted ways with initial business partner Gordon Campbell, Jim required some space to reassess his situation. It had all been an interesting experience, during which, while co-promoting tours with Aucklander Matthew Crawley of Strange News, Galesburg was responsible for the debut New Zealand live performances from the likes of Animal Collective, Band of Horses, Broken Social Scene and The Gossip. The end result of this was a cultural swing which brought indie, folk and alt-country and a smidgeon of hip-hop to the forefront within the local boutique live music market.

As you can imagine, Jim learnt a thing or two about event promotion over the duration of Galesburg and after an appropriate period of mourning, realised returning to the fray was his only option. So, with the stars once again firmly aligned, enters Rushmore, Jim's new event promotion brand. Leaner, meaner and more focused, Rushmore is here to provide the right show, in the right venue, at the right time.
